![]() This double cd took me on a journey to a dreamland, something that ambient cd's not often do. In conclusion, the 2nd album's depth is far greater then the first, yet the earlier album offers a nevertheless ample depth of emotions, sounds and atmosphere. The final track is "worthy" a vocal track that has heavy feelings and a message, it is very personal. The track itself is very atmospheric and in my opinion involves elements from each of its predecessors on the album. The next track is "oleander" one of the most beautiful yet toxic flora with incredible flowers. A great break beat and Jonathan took the free form psychedelics of the original and gave it, as it sounds to me, a Pink Floyd meet the 21st century feel, great work with the vocals at end there and the escalation. This is a great track, one of the best on the album for certain. ![]() J.Viewz of Violet Vision remixed "prayers for rain" from the previous album. A techy dub track, with some old 303 lines? The vocals are absolutely tortured here, I like this track but I felt it didn’t end up where I though it was going to go… rather just ended. In "cosmologic" the beat picks up a bit and a spacey feeling of dub and heavy delays sustained for long periods… the synths again are doing a great job: one creamy and one sharp playing a contra game of some sort. The mix between vocoded samples and Indian samples is incredible… the main synth is creamy and smooth as well. "alchemie dub" is one of my favorites here. It is a good intro track as I see this album being one long piece of work and not really 7 tracks. We start with "elementary particles (re-edit)" a track that has dub percussions and small effect games I enjoyed. The instruments used here are different as well. This album sounds much more refined and precise. The album closes with "cliffdiving" a short piano and pad track that closes up the album in a melancholy manner… I visualize a long plunge into an abyss here.Įlementary Particles, the 2nd installment here and the current new release of the couple is another being altogether from its first brother Prima Material. The atmosphere is interesting here, somewhat mysterious somewhat inviting. The action picks up again with "desperate ends" the synths used by Evan are high tech sounding and somehow still organic feeling. "mezzamorphic" is another percussive track, to this one I didn’t really connect… I thought it was not as good as the rest of them. Fast and swirly I found myself shaking my head to the beat. Up next is "burning waters" a track with a clever break beat and great percussion work. "7th phase dub" is a track that keeps on changing… not settling down one moment, the guitar part is very inspiring. I think Evan takes here the 60's concepts again and applies them to modern type synthesis. In " white magnesia" the lounge comes back and a slow trippy beat is ruling this track. This is a wonderful track, very creative ideas here. "prayers for rain (dub mix)" is up next and again ventures into dub… there are some parts here that really remind me of 1960's free flowing psychedelic rock, with keyboards offbeat but in tune with a purpose and coming back each time they get too far away to "anchor" us back to a base. Tribal percussions, smooth creamy pads and an escalating climb into the future vocal samples. "rubicon" it much more upbeat then its previous counterparts, a loungy beat and delayed short synths bouncing in each ear a melody. The vinyl crackle is a nice touch here too, keeping it organic through all this silicon. The melody completely hooked me and I found myself floating to distant lands on the notes, sailing into the horizon. "triangle (retriangulated) is my 2nd favorite on the cd. The track keeps quite minimal instruments wise and a mysterious atmosphere to this one. "prophetic sines" is a track with much vocal work that is both tribal and dubby at the same time. I find as the music continues it is hard to start describing each track as an individual, rather they are working together toward a purpose of some sort… a destination unknown. "leaving babylon" is my favorite on the album… something about the vocal samples that reminds me of the old Shpongle – Devine Moments of Truth vocal lines it has a special in my heart. The first cd is a re-release of Prima Materia under Aleph Zero Records and as part of this value pack. ![]() With this double release there is much music to review, let's start: Now that I think about it, the flowers and their colors fit exactly the music inside. This is luckily not the case with this beautiful floral design on the cover. Bluetech - Elementary Particles + Prima Materia ( Aleph Zero , Aug. 2004 )Ī few things regarding the lost art of cd covers… I don’t know why labels and artists don’t insist on something meaningful and artistic when they go about their covers as of late. ![]() The Gorillaz' image may be cartoonish, but with artists like Del the Funky Homosapian, Dan the Automator, and members of Blur, Cibo Matto, and Tom Tom Club contributing, their music is anything but lightweight. The group scored a radio hit this second time around with the single "Feel Good, Inc." As the title suggests, the Gorillaz's sophomore effort casts a darker shadow however, this is tempered by slick-sounding beats and a variety of happy-go-lucky blips and bleeps. But in July 2005, the band released its follow-up, Demon Days. Despite this, the Gorillaz's album went platinum and the group scored a couple of hefty hits with "Clint Eastwood" and "19-2000." But when most of the members of the group went back to their day jobs, most assumed that was the end of them. Perhaps it was the cartoon facade, or the side-project feel of the collaborative, but when the Gorillaz's self-titled debut was released in 2001, critics predicted a short shelf life for the band. And although the combination doesn't always gel, when they hit the mark, it's usually with a bull's eye. Experimental in nature and obtuse in scope, the Gorillaz' sound melds Damon Albarn's sharp pop sensibilities with Dan the Automator's eclectic bass-heavy, beat-driven hip hop. ![]() John survived the gunshot, but he must return to England for medical treatment if he is to survive. The settlers turn on Ratcliffe, capturing him and sending him back to England to await punishment for high treason. Ratcliffe fires at Chief Powhatan himself, but John pushes the chief aside and is shot instead. Ratcliffe orders the settlers to fire anyway, but they too refuse. ![]() He lowers his club and orders John to be set free. Powhatan thinks about his daughter's words and realizes that Kocoum wouldn't have wanted them to have a war. Before Powhatan can strike, Pocahontas throws herself over John, telling him that she loves John and that Powhatan must see where the path of hatred has brought them, asking him to choose his own path. Ratcliffe sees this as an opportunity to attack and rescue John at the same time, and they arrive just as John is about to be executed. Thomas returns to the fort and announces John's capture. A group of natives take John prisoner, thinking he is the murderer, and Powhatan announces that he will be executed at dawn before the war with the settlers begin. Hearing voices approaching, John tells Thomas to run. Kocoum, overwhelmed by jealously, attacks and tries to kill John, but even as he is successfully being pushed off, Thomas intervenes and kills Kocoum. Both Kocoum and Thomas watch from the shadows as John and Pocahontas kiss. Pocahontas and John meet in the glade, where both Pocahontas and Grandmother Willow convince John to try talking to Chief Powhatan to resolve the conflict. Meanwhile, John sneaks out of the fort, and Ratcliffe orders Thomas to follow him. ![]() That night, Pocahontas' best friend Nakoma catches her sneaking off and informs Kocoum that she has gone. Thinking that the natives have hidden the gold for themselves, he declares that they will eliminate them all. Back at the English fort, John tells Ratcliffe there is no gold in the land, which Ratcliffe does not believe. When Pocahontas returns to her village, she finds that warriors from neighboring tribes have arrived to help Powhatan fight the settlers. They agree to meet at Grandmother Willow's glade again that night. The warriors retreat, and Powhatan declares that the white men are dangerous and that no one should go near them.Ī few days later, John and Pocahontas meet again, during which John learns that there is no gold in the land. Governor Ratcliffe assumes that it is an ambush, and one of the warriors is shot. Back at the settlement, Powhatan has sent some scouts to learn more about the new arrivals, but they are spotted. The two spend time together, with Pocahontas teaching John to look at the world in a different way, and to not think of people who are different as 'savages'. All the time he is followed by the curious Pocahontas, and comes to encounter her. ![]() Less concerned with gold, John Smith explores the territory, finding the new world to be a place full of adventure. The British settlers land in what will become Virginia and dig for gold under Ratcliffe's orders. Grandmother Willow tells Pocahontas to listen to her heart and she may understand. She asks the advice from the talking tree spirit named Grandmother Willow. This is emphasized by a scene showing several children trying to play with him, while he stalwartly ignores them. But though he is handsome and a fine warrior, Pocahontas does not love him, feeling he is far too serious. She learns to her dismay that her father thinks she should marry Kocoum, one of his finest warriors. In the "New World", Pocahontas is on top of the waterfall where she can dive into the lake to swim and then get on to Nakoma's canoe. A storm erupts, and Smith saves the life of an inexperienced young settler named Thomas when he falls overboard, befriending him in the process. Among those on board are Captain John Smith (Mel Gibson) and Governor Ratcliffe (David Ogen Stiers). In 1607 England, a ship carrying British settlers sails for North America on behalf of the Virginia Company in search of gold and other material riches, and a settlement. John Smith and a crew of colonists meet a group of Natives, one of whom is the beautiful, daring Pocahontas. ![]()

![]() Everything turns black usually, so I’ll make the negatives white, and how they’re organized in the layer menu is usually backwards so it’ll still all be black, so I’ll take the top path and move it to the bottom of the others and that usually works, otherwise I manually move each path so it’s in the opposite order. Make sure to have your layer menu open to see all the new paths created. When it doesn’t work, most of the time for me it’s because there’s negative space within the image, so you have to break apart the entire object/path so each section is it’s own object/path. Then I’ll go to params in the ink/stitch menu and adjust my stitch distance, this is also where I see if it works or not. Then once you have the vector path (or whatever it’s technically called) you can resize it. ![]() It’ll render directly on top of the image so you scoot the top layer over and delete the original image layer, or I go to the layer menu and just delete the image layer which to me is quicker. I then go to trace bitmap up top and let it do it’s thing. ![]() I’ll save a black and white image from online, usually a png file, and drag or import into Inkscape. Thanks in advance for any advice!Įdit: So I figured it out for Ink/Stitch, and just in case anyone else has issues here’s what I do. So I either need help with this specific issue, or maybe a recommendation for another program that better suits my needs. I don't quite understand what that means, and can't find anything that looks wrong in the vector, even when troubleshooting the problem. I successfully got it to work a couple times by sheer luck it seems, but most of the time I get an error message saying something about the fill line crossing the border. Same when I go to embroider for the render. Once I have something made, by either bitmap tracing or just making something simple like a circle, I'll go into params and if it works I'll see the stitching preview, otherwise I'll get an error code. So far I've been using Inkscape with Ink/Stitch to make the vector, which is something new for me as well. I recently got a Brother embroidery machine and I'm looking to convert image files to the PES format using a Mac. Then you'd reverse engineer the file, etc.Hello, super new to this but I've been doing a lot of research and trial and error. emb files are the same but the swizzle for the contents doesn't exist. Then the first four bytes are size, and the rest are a zlib compression stream.Ĭontents = compoundfiles.CompoundFileReader(f).open('Contents') So the contents element in the CFBF should be unswizzled XOR 0xD2, circular shifted left by 1. The bit swizzle here is: XOR D2, cycle-shift-left 1. F1 47 D2 D2 EE 9C 24 - should beĤ6 2B 00 00 78 9C ED - (the icon file sizes are always the same) Where the 00 is it looks like there are D2 which generally would suggest a single byte swizzle. So that's certainly doable, but the OP is about. The resulting data clearly has an embroidery file with strings about the threads and a triplet code. emb the Contents file starts with a 4 byte little endian number indicating the size of the file in uncompressed format. art calls this breakdown Grade C, because it doesn't contain the vector art file which is similarly compressed when it exists in emb) Inside the files however, there are usually:ĭo note this is the same as the. And anybody could write anything to traverse this. art files are in "Compound File Binary Format". DST and those are easy to code up and output. ART is somewhat standard to make such files, a lot of embroidery machines accept. It occurs to me that there's actually a very strong possibility that a Bernina embroidery machine accepts. ![]() Aditionally, I think there wasn’t a whole lot of experimentation going on in terms of bringing something to the table, in a way it almost feels like people just wanna repeat the same thing over and over again (insert sample that has been used 50 times already vengeance drums). I think future funk this year hit a low in terms of releases due to FSC being put on hold, a lot of artists moving out of the genre and other collectives also coming and going (Popsicle, Sunrise, etc). Q: What is your opinion on the future of future funk? Will it last? Are you optimistic? ![]() Reaper to record/edit audio files FL Studio to do anything else regarding production (mixing, mastering, sound design, etc) and composition. ![]() When I get João Miguel on my songs tho, he records everything with his actual electric guitars tho and I just stick to my fretless bass. I use my fretless one to do the actual bass lines and my fretted one to do some weird leads, solos or “fake” guitars (basically, I just play my bass in it’s highest register possible and I run it through guitar amps/pedals). Right now I record everything with 2 different bass guitars. Most of what I use make my drums are processed/layered DMX, 707 and 808’s (I also like using random percussion samples from other songs, for example I used the intro from “Run to The Hills” by Iron Maiden to make the Hi-hats for the song “Heartbreak”). Q: What drums do you use? Do you use a guitar? I also just accepted the fact that this project felt the best with all of the anime imagery, so I tried to give it my own twist from there instead of just copying the typical Sailor Moon stuff (aditionally, Tokyo Wanderer sounds a lot cooler haha). Once I started going as Wanderer, I noticed that most people weren’t really picking up the fact that I was Tokyo Wanderer previously, so I decided to go back. I have my own sort of interpertation of the name which I can get into a little bit later, but I decided to drop it because I thought it was too weeab-ish and I wanted to “mature” out of that. Intially I got the name Tokyo Wanderer from my favourite animes at the time (Tokyo Ghoul and Wandering Son). Q: What made you go from tokyo wanderer to wanderer then back to tokyo wanderer?Ī. I might as well add that before getting into future funk I was already really into Daft Punk and some old funk stuff like Bootsy Collins, Sly and Family Stone, Funkadelic, Jamiroquai, RHCP, etc. Initially, I didn’t think much of it, but for whatever reasons I started binge listening to Tanuki’s first EP and Sailorwave when a friend of mine died back in 2015 (Idk, I guess how nostalgic the genre sounded helped me cope with that). Nobody, I found it through vaporwave memes and artzie music. I got more serious at 12–13 when I finally made the transition from the guitar to bass. \o/ Comment by tkdwn.I started getting into music at a very young age from watching my dad play guitar.
